Job Summary

PBS Utah works to provide the people of Utah and surrounding areas with relevant programming and services while upholding core values of integrity, fairness, independence, education, and innovation.

Coordinate and implement PBS Utah and PBS KIDS Utah educational programs, annual initiatives, and events, in collaboration with PBS Utah’s Education Program Manager. Work independently to manage and maintain the PBS KIDS Utah blog and the Writers and Illustrators Contest. Collaborate with the Education Program Manager to coordinate virtual and in-person events and educator trainings statewide. Coordinate rural programs like the Reading Marathon Mini Grants program and book distributions. Increase rural engagement through programs like the Writers and Illustrators Contest and Educator Boxes. Maintain reports for events and activities.

Responsibilities
PBS KIDS Utah Blog and Digital Content
Manage blog
Create weekly blogs and blog videos
Create and maintain blog and blog posts in the areas of events, activities, recipes, crafts, home page
Create monthly calendar of blog posts to write
Come up with and research crafts to do and post about along with other topics
Maintain PBS KIDS page content
Maintain PBS Learning Media homepage content

Project Manager of Writers and Illustrators Contest
Find a community partner to partner with us for contest
Set up place, date, time of celebration
Update posters and social media material with new look and theme
Keep track of all stories that come in, enter them into an excel and organize them by grade
Send out distribution packets and emails to libraries, schools, and past participants
Engage schools and libraries statewide in contest promotion
Select judges, when judging will take place, and manage catering
Create invitations, catering, and notify winners for celebration
Contact community partners about prizes for the winners along with ordering prizes online
Print out certificates and mail back all stories
Scan stories of winners to submit to host one our website
Coordinate the traveling exhibit with Utah Division of Arts and Museums, including the return of the stories from the year prior
Increase engagement with rural writing workshops
Digital copies via website

Reading Marathon Mini Grants
Manage promotion of the Mini Grant program and manage submissions
Select Mini Grant recipients and coordinate receipt of funds, PBS KIDS goodies, and books
Collect and manage reports from the schools and libraries who received Mini Grants

Educator Boxes
Manage promotion and distribution of Educator Boxes
Collaborate with Education Program Manager to create box contents

Book Distributions
Manage distribution of books to community partners

Virtual and Live Event Support for PBS KIDS Utah
Collaborate with Education Program Manager to coordinate virtual and in-person events
Establish community partners for events and collaborations
Research related organizations
Create lists of organizations contact information
Reach out to organizations to participate
Event Invitations
Send invitations
Perform follow-up calls for RSVP’s
Coordinate Meetings and Lead Meetings when appropriate
Pick up catering
Attend meetings for events and take notes
Events
Work with Education Program Manager to plan activities for events and manage supplies
Virtual event supplies may be mailed out to attendees
Host and attend virtual events via Zoom, OVEE, etc.
Help with set-up and tear-down
Interact with kids and parents at the events
Work with community partners that are also in attendance
Order costumes of PBS Characters and arrange shipping and handling
Enter proof of performance data after event into Education Reports

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area or equivalency (2 years related work experience may be substituted for 1 year of education), and two years related experience required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.

Comfortable and skilled speaking to a group and willing to be featured in digital videos for PBS KIDS Utah blogs. Writing and editing skills. Computer/data base skills and knowledge.
