Help Wanted: Marriott School Leadership class
September 8, 2011 in Internships
The Marriott School Leadership class is interested in finding two BYU film students to work with us on our video initiatives this upcoming year. Each student will receive two university credits for his/her work and will be responsible for both the camera and editing work on each initiative. Working on either initiative will be a great opportunity for students to build their portfolios, get school credit for their time and work, and strengthen their resumes by participating in the Marriott School’s leadership council as our go-to film expert.
The first opportunity is to serve as the Creative Director for a Marriott School re-branding initiative modeled after the “Mormon Messages” campaign. Throughout the course of the year, the “Marriott Messages” team will interview both alumni and current students of the Marriott School regarding their accomplishments and the importance of a Marriott School education in their life. Working together with his/her team, the Creative Director will have the opportunity to meet and network with many of BYU’s most prominent alumni and will gain wide exposure to the world of business. As part of a major roll out in early to mid-October, all of the “Marriott Messages” will be posted on YouTube in the hope of going viral and further strengthening the Marriott brand.
The second opportunity is to serve as the Creative Director for a documentary on “How learning takes place in the Marriott School”. At the end of last semester, Dean Michael Thompson reached out to the Leadership Council and asked us to develop a ground-level documentary capturing the previously untold story of when and where the most important learning takes place in the Marriott School. To tell this story, the documentary team will interview students about their most significant learning experiences, film various learning “events”, and seek out learning opportunities of all forms. This documentary will be used in both the accreditation of the Marriott School and the Dean’s curriculum/program development efforts.
All students interested in this opportunity should submit their resumes to kyletpoe@gmail.com by Friday, September 9th.
