Practice Exercise Request Policy
Basic Equipment Access
For those students interested in a practice exercise with basic equipment (accessible at the 100/200 level), for example: GL2s, DVX, older 16mm, boom kits, reflector kits and Lowell lighting kits, etc., these will be made available by simply detailing the purpose and objectives on the Practice Exercise Form, having your faculty (alphabetical) advisor or course instructor review and sign the form, then submitting it to MAL Access for review.
If your request is not too demanding or complicated when weighed against your skill level and you wish to fast track the request, you can deliver the signed Practice Exercise Form to T. Lefler’s TMA box or slide it under his door. Please keep a copy for your reference. Depending on the MAL Access review, the MAL will respond appropriately and as quickly as possible.
Advanced Equipment Access
For those students requesting access to more advanced equipment (accessible at the 300 level and above), for example, HVX, RedRock, 16mm, 35mm, F900, RED, HD recorders, ARRI light kits, etc., you will be required to submit the Practice Exercise Form and depending on your skill level, you may or may not have to attend the Access meeting.
There are, in most instances, technical/experiential preparation prerequisites to gain access to advanced equipment. Depending on your skill level and the specific equipment you want to learn or use, you will need to attend access meeting to review your skill level and the exercise objectives, and where an appropriate timetable and training regimen will be worked out.
