The BYUMS hosts a Distinguished Utah Gala each year to honor a high profile figure who has helped the Utah community in a significant fashion (Gail Miller, Governor Herbert, etc.) An added piece to that event is highlighting the scholarship program. BYUMS donates upwards of $100,000 dollars yearly to help deserving high school students receive scholarships to attend college.

At this event, it has been suggested we provide a short film like a documentary that shares the outcome of these scholarships – who some of these students are, what their need was, and how they utilized the donated funds for good.

We would love to partner with a student in the BYU Film and Media Arts Department to create this short 5 to 7-minute film (could be longer if interest is there). We are thinking of a few interviews (and have committee members who can help with that), pictures, soundtrack, etc. The content would showcase a few of the students sharing where they were and where they are now because of the funds. Of course, we are open to what the student would see as the best way to pursue the project.

The timeline would be to have it ready for early September. As BYUMS is a volunteer organization we would be doing this with volunteer resources.
