Required Degree: BA or BFA in film, however MFA in production design is preferred. Required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience: 1+ years university teaching experience or 5+ years film/television industry experience in area of production design.
Duties/Expectations: Adjunct Instructor will teach a beginning level course in production design for film and television in the Media Arts program. Instructor must be an engaging and clear teacher, lead effective class discussions, and give students constructive and concise feedback. Instructor must have a strong knowledge of and experience with real world film and media production design. Instructor will understand the foundational concepts of production design including: principles of visual design (contrast, affinity, color, shape, line, etc.), history of architecture and art, character and psychology, drafting, blueprints, modeling, breakdowns, schedules, budgets, set and prop construction, working with crews, etc.. The instructor must be able to give students constructive and concise feedback and is expected to be available for office hours as required for student consultations. The instructor will consult with current fiction film production committee to construct a syllabus for the course. This course will be an evening school course.
