Job Summary
KUED’s is Utah’s PBS station, providing the state with access to exceptional content that entertains, informs, and enriches viewers. KUED airs PBS programming, plus award-winning, locally produced documentaries and series. Recognized as one of the leading public television stations in the country, KUED is committed to serving and engaging with the Utah community through its diverse productions, as well as its educational and outreach programs. KUED also provides three additional broadcast channels: WORLD, PBS Kids 24/7, and Create.

As a part of KUED’s Production Department, the Production Assistant is responsible for assisting Producers with editing, data management, research, and studio & field crewing. This position will primarily work on the new series, This Is Utah. This position reports to the Director of Content.

Responsibilities
• Edits a variety of short form content and story elements using Adobe Premiere Suite for KUED series, documentaries and other video projects
• Organizes and manages a project’s digital assets
• Secures location permits, travel, lodging and may book studio guests
• Performs detailed archival research
• Secures clearances for all copyrighted assets
• Close-captions completed programs
• Assists field-based productions including helping with lighting, set up, and strike
• Assists studio-based productions by operating Xpression, teleprompter, studio cameras, floor managing, lighting, and set up and strike
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Media Arts, or a related field, or equivalency; one year previous experience; and demonstrated analytical, oral and written communication skills required.

Preferences
2 years previous production, editing, and data management experience.

High degree of technical and creative proficiency with Adobe Premiere Suite preferred.

Graphics and Animation experience preferred.

Experience with data management preferred.

Valid driver’s license.
