The Student Colorist/Video Editor will be directly involved in the technical and artistic aspects of broadcast color correction for a wide variety of programming, promotions and other on-air elements. The Student Colorist will work under the Senior Colorist and Post Supervisors to color correct, color grade and prepare original BYUtv programming for broadcast. They will also be responsible for coordinating with Editors involved with their assigned projects. Depending on class schedule, work hours can be flexible. This position is for those who excel, who are passionate, and who have a strong desire to learn the art of color correction and color grading. There will be opportunities for increased responsibility and resumé-enhancing work for the right individual. This position can be very rewarding for those who want to be involved in either the post production or broadcast industries.
The Student Colorist at BYU Broadcasting should have experience editing, understand TV broadcast standards, and have a critical eye for color correction. A good working knowledge of Adobe Premiere and DaVinci Resolve is very helpful, but not required. It is important that the Student Colorist be a hard worker, reliable, self-driven, a problem solver, flexible, attentive to detail, and have an exceptional eye for proper color correction.
