Are you looking for a flexible internship that will get you involved in one of the coolest studios in Utah?  We have several openings for people who are passionate about this field and are ready to get their foot in the door.

Current Internships Available:

  1. Camera Operators – we use Sony EX1 High Definition video cameras
  2. Video Editors – we use Final Cut Pro and Premiere Pro / After Effects

Internship: Covenant Communications

Covenant Communications, a Deseret Book company, needs a Digital Media Intern for a six week internship beginning June 1st. intern will work with feature film producer assisting in the creation of a “behind the scenes” featurette for the upcoming movie “Christmas Oranges” that will be released later this year. Completed featurette project will be included as a bonus feature on the DVD and segments will be on the web. The first three weeks of the internship will be spent on set acquiring behind the scenes footage and interview assets, the second three weeks will be spent in post production. Applicants must be dependable and have shooting, interviewing, and Final Cut editing skills. Internship is unpaid, but there is a $500 travel allowance paid. Internship: Power Media Entertainment

POWER MEDIA ENTERTAINMENT

We are a full service music entertainment and public relations firm in Salt Lake City, Utah. Our services range from managing artists/bands, bookings, press releases, media tours, song plugging, music licensing, video production and producing and filming The Music Scene, a show carried on Comcast Ch. 6 and On-Demand and online.

Interns need to be dependable first and foremost. Follow direction and work well with others and be willing to ask questions if something is not clear.

These positions are non-paying, other than commissions. Commissions are generous on bookings, 50%. The hands on experience gained with Power Media are key for resume building. Access to concerts may be included.

A. The Music Scene TV Show:
1. Talent Coordinator: arranges for guests to be on the show and arranges film crew shooting schedule.
2. Crew: cameramen, co-director/co-producer, grip, lighting, etc.
3. Editors: edit video and music shots
4. Public Relations: promote the show online by uploading videos to our sites and submitting the videos to other online sites, etc. Find ways to promote show online and in the traditional media outlets.
5. Sales: contact businesses to sponsor the show and other events we do, commissions are given the moment the money is received.

B. Power Media Records:

1. Call on venues to pitch/book our roster of musicians www.reverbnation.com/powermediaentertainment
2. Successful bookings also get commissions.
3. Send out updates via email to Artists on Roster
4. Help design press kits for Artists, write bio’s, news releases & work with artists.
5. Assist with general office duties to help with work flow of bookings
6. Writing for press announcements or newsletters.

Purpose – Help students see the dedication and excitement we put into their success!

Content - The theme of this commercial is “this is how we do it” focusing on how we help student prepare for careers and internships. It will focus on one student in shirt and tie dancing (slow motion) to the song “this is how we do it” by Montel Jordan. The narrator will explain that this man is dancing because he just received a great job thanks to all the career advice he received from University Career Services. We hope to portray how great success in finding a career feels.

Video Project #2

Short commercial

Purpose – help students to feel the excitement of success in the world of careers!

Content – a student calmly (almost shy) walks onto the Dejong concert hall, steps into the spot light, and the throws up his hand with (resume, acceptance letter, just a sheet of paper) and shouts, “I got the job!” The crowd (the Dejong with every seat full) then erupts in cheering as lights start to fly around him! Screen goes to white and the career services logo slowly zooms in!

We will be looking for a volunteer that can help us with the recording and editing of these short commercials!

Interning at IDA is a great way to support the organization, build your project management skills, and get access to leading documentary films and filmmakers.

IDA interns support the Programs and Events Department. IDA produces these programs and events:

Doc U:  Monthly panel seminars

  • coordinate among panelists with schedule and deliverables information
  • prepare Keynote or Powerpoint slideshow of clips and graphics for playback at event
  • prep onsite kit and all materials needed onsite
  • assist with venue prep
  • assist with check in and seating

DocuWeeks: 3 weeks screenings of 17 features and 8+/- shorts in New York and Los Angeles

  • oversee incoming submissions and assess for eligibility
  • communicate with screening committee – coordinating meetings, trafficking screeners, maintaining scoring records, preparing materials and newly received submissions for screenings

  • assist volunteer manager in setting shifts and work duties for volunteers

Internship: Good Line – Videographer

Good Line is seeking an ambitious, responsible individual for a videography internship. We are a creative and collaborative agency focused on telling stories through the method of short form documentaries and viral videos. We are writers, cinematographers, musicians and artists fueled by the art of Storytelling. Our trekking takes us around the globe as we search for insight into the thoughts and culture of people from all walks of life. We believe in optimism, truth, and real life characters. We believe in capturing life as it is.

This position will offer plenty of exciting opportunities to film in a variety of different contexts. We will be covering diverse series of subjects, any potential intern must be versatile and capable of shooting in a variety of different contexts, with differing advantages and drawbacks. Interns will also assist in producing online content and are encouraged to pitch story ideas, as well as research potential events that coincide with our mission. We are seeking to add talented, reliable, committed, fun, and passionate individuals with a positive attitudes and amazing personalities.

This is currently an UNPAID internship for someone who are available for around 20 hours a week including some weekends. However, we are looking to promote the right individuals from within as the company grows.

Desired Qualifications include:
–a strong work ethic and a good attitude. You must be able to work well with others, and complete any assignment with dedication and passion
–Attention to detail. It is of the utmost importance that any intern attend to his work with focus and fastidiousness.
–A willingness to go above and beyond what is asked of you. Outgoing interns will be rewarded with increased responsibilities.

Requirements include:
–must provide your own equipment
–must be based in the Utah area, as well as be willing to travel
–must have must have knowledge of lighting for a wide variety of lighting conditions and the ability to make necessary technical adjustments on the fly.
–must have the ability to shoot a wide variety of different subjects in various environments and still maintain a standard of consistent quality
